A Rainy Ceremony

The rain was pounding heavily on the roof of Patchstar's den. The tortoiseshell leader took a breath before stepping into the rain. She knew none of her warriors were particularly fond of the rain, but she hoped they would gather anyways.

"Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather beneath the Moss Rock for a Clan meeting!" she called. Slowly the MoonClanners emerged from their cozy dens into the pouring rain. Luckily the dense forest shielded them from most of it, so it wasn't as bad in MoonClan's territory as it was elsewhere, but it was still a nuisance.

"MoonClan is gaining several new warriors and apprentices today! If it's alright with everyone else, I'll make it quick, so we can get back to our dens." a ripple of laughter waved through the MoonClan cats.

"First, Brightpaw, Cloverpaw and Skypaw step forward. I have talked with your mentors and all agree that you three are ready to take on your warrior names." Patchstar jumped down from the top of the Moss Rock to stand in front of the three she-cats, a loud squish sounding as she made contact with the soggy ground. "Brightpaw. From this moment on, you shall be known as Brightshadow. StarClan honors your spirit and honesty, and we welcome you as a full warrior of MoonClan."

Patchstar placed her muzzle on the gray tabby's forehead ceremoniously, and Brightshadow licked the MoonClan leader's shoulder in return. She then went to sit by her friends and mentor, as the Clan hailed her by her new name.

"Cloverpaw, from this moment on, you shall be known as Cloverleaf. StarClan honors your bravery and intelligence, and we welcome you as a full member of MoonClan." as the Clan cheered for their newest member, she glowed with pride.

"Last but not least, Skypaw." Patchstar called, and the silver she-cat padded forward as Cloverleaf sat down. "From this moment on, you shall be known as Skyleap. StarClan honors your loyalty and friendliness, and welcomes you as a full member of MoonClan."

"Skyleap! Skyleap!" her clanmates cheered as they had for the others before her. As Skyleap sat down and joined the others, Patchstar beckoned Wildkit and Spiderkit forward.

"Wildkit, Spiderkit, the two of you have reached the age of six moons and are ready to be apprenticed. Wildkit, from this moment on until you receive your warrior name, you shall be known as Wildpaw. Falcondash!" Patchstar looked to the gray tabby tom. "You are ready for your first apprentice. Lynxheart has trained you well, and I hope you pass on all your skills to Wildpaw."

The clan hailed their newest apprentice as Wildpaw touched noses ceremoniously with Falcondash.

Patchstar continued, "Spiderkit, from this moment on until you receive your warrior name, you shall be known as Spiderpaw. Screechstorm, I know you lost your last apprentice Aspenpaw, but I think you are ready to take on a new apprentice. You will be mentor to Spiderpaw. I hope you pass on all you have learned to him."

"Spiderpaw, Spiderpaw!"

"Alright! Now get out of the rain. Go make up your new nests." Patchstar dismissed her Clan with a wave of her tail and disappeared in her den once more.
